چکیده

A neuroendocrine tumor is suspected when classical clinical symptoms occur but the large majority of NETs does not show any specific symptomatology (Oberg et al., 1999). Accordingly, the biochemical diagnosis is of great value, with the validation of radioimmunoenzymatic assays for various circulating peptide hormones in the last decade, clinical awareness and ability to diagnose NET is increased . However, due to the relative low incidence of NETs and the very large number of measurable hormones, clinicians need to know which measurable variables have an established clinical value and are cost effective (Giuffrida et al., 2006)

Evaluation of Neuroendocrine and Proliferative Markers in Prostatic Adenocarcinomas

Background: Certain marker studies have practical importance in the biology of prostate cancer. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the quantification of certain neuroendocrine and proliferative markers obtained during transurethral resection or prostatectomy, would help in the prognostic evaluation of prostatic adenocarcinomas. Methods: The present study was performed on samples...

معرفی یک مورد بیمار مبتلا به کارسینوم نورواندوکرین نازوفارنکس

Introduction: Neuroendocrine carcinoma is one of the neoplasms of neuroendocrine system which involves organs sparing of APUD cells. The most common sites of this carcinoma are gastrointestinal and pulmonary system. From a histologic standpoint, these tumors are reactive to silver stains and specific markers like NSE(Neuron Specific Enolase), synaptophysin, and chromogranin A. Case Report: ...

The clinical relevance of chromogranin A as a biomarker for gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

Chromogranin A, although it exhibits limitations, is currently the most useful general tumor biomarker available for use in the diagnosis and management of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). The value of the chromogranin A lies in its universal cosecretion by the majority of neuroendocrine cells that persists after malignant transformation. Clinicians aware of the physiologic ...

A Carcinoid Tumor in the Urinary Bladder With Uncommon Clinicopathological Presentation

Background: Carcinoid tumors usually originate from the enterochromaffin cells located in gastrointestinal tract and bronchopulmonary system. They may rarely arise in the urinary bladder, where this can be eventually miscued as any other commoner bladder neoplasms. The current study was conducted to connote an uncommon clinicopathological presentation by a carcinoid tu...

Chromogranin A - unspecific neuroendocrine marker. Clinical utility and potential diagnostic pitfalls.

Chromogranin A, despite a number of limitations, is still the most valuable marker of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Granins belong to the family of acidic proteins that constitute a major component of secretory granules of various endocrine and neuroendocrine cells, which are components of both the classical endocrine glands and the diffuse neuroendocrine system. These cells are a potential sou...

Biochemical diagnosis of neuroendocrine GEP tumor.

Neuroendocrine gut and pancreatic tumors are known to contain and secret different peptide hormones and amines. During the last two decades, many radioimmunoassays and Elizas have been developed to analyze these substances in blood and urine, which has enabled clinicians to improve the diagnosis and monitoring of patients with various neuroendocrine tumors. Due to cost constraints in medical ca...
